KCSMUN
Last year as we enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) course we were presented with an opportunity. We were asked by our teacher wether we would want to attend an MUN or not. Since then we have been to several and seeing the succes of BIMUN we have decided we ould organise ours as well.
History of our MUN
The United Nations (UN) is an international organisation founded in 1945 after World War II, with the aim of maintaining global peace, promoting human rights, and fostering cooperation between countries. Today, it includes 193 member states and plays a key role in addressing worldwide challenges such as conflict resolution, climate change, and humanitarian aid.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation of the UN, where students take on the roles of diplomats representing different countries. It originated in the early 20th century, inspired by simulations of the League of Nations, and developed further after the creation of the UN. At MUN conferences, participants debate global issues, deliver speeches, negotiate with others, and draft resolutions, closely mirroring real UN processes.
MUN is valuable because it helps students develop essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, research, and diplomacy. It also builds global awareness by encouraging participants to understand different perspectives and cultures. At the same time, it is engaging and dynamic, combining debate, teamwork, and problem-solving in an exciting and interactive way.
What is an MUN?
As we were about to attend our first ever MUN we saw it fit that we joined our school’s MUNClub which was founded by our predecessors.
Our MUNClub
Here in Korosi our main goal is to build an accepting, peaceful community which is open to all. We have previously organized several community events but we have decided to take a leap of faith and undertake a bigger project that being our very own MUN KCSMUN
